When the opportunity arose for the town to develop some property on the eastern end of downtown Valdese, they jumped at the chance and elected to construct not only a mini-park, but also a large-as-life mural that will capture an image of Valdese and the surrounding foothills circa late-1800s. In addition to the mural, the park includes some stone walkways, benches, and a pond and waterfall that flows along the north side of the park, which appears on the right of the adjacent picture. The park and mural are intended to blend together near the base of the wall with the mural's McGalliard falls, leading into the park's waterfall on the right, a split rail fence along the southern end of the park leading into one on the painting. Hidden in the mural are a number of objects for those with sharp eyes to find. A list of these objects is available at Town Hall or at the Tourism office at the Old Rock School.
