"Pilot International is a global organization of executive, business, and professional leaders working together to improve the quality of life in local communities and throughout the world."
HISTORYThe Valdese Pilot Club was established in 1939 and is one of the oldest clubs in the country. Their first president was Mrs. Nell Hern. The Morganton Pilot Club was the establishing club.
SERVICEThey are, on average, fifty members strong. The focus of Pilot International is to further the research and treatment of Brain-Related Disorders. As a working club, our projects are varied. They contribute to the broader goals of our parent organization, but are more diverse on the local level. They have an ongoing project of supplying Baby Bags to the Burke County Health Department, which uses them as an incentive for expectant mothers to attend prenatal classes at the Department. The club provides Lifeline connections for several local needy residents. Options, Meals on Wheels, the Alzheimer's Association, and Hospice are also included in our annual projects. There are, of course, more projects they support and are involved in and are always watching for new needs in our local community.
ANCHOR CLUBThe Valdese Pilot Club sponsors the Anchor Club at East Burke High School. They appreciate the invaluable assistance of those members with our projects and fundraisers. The club supports them in the form of scholarships for college education, financial support for club activities, and moral support for their school projects and activities. They are very proud of the East Burke Anchor Club and view these young ladies as our future.
CLUB INFORMATIONBusiness and Program meetings are scheduled for the second Thursday of each month at our clubhouse, located at: 809 Jefferson Avenue in Valdese. The meeting time is 6:30pm.
