The Lions Club is the oldest service club in Valdese., having received its charter on November 12, 1936. Since their charter, the club has been very active in the Valdese community: furnishing a hospital room; sponsoring events to raise funds for athletic associations, the Boy Scouts, and the Fire Department; sponsoring dances, needy families, and a Boy Scout troop, and much more. The Lions club also raised money for school grounds landscaping; arranged a physical education program for the schools, and contributed to many other pubic school needs. The Valdese Lions Club is in District 31-B which covers 13 counties.
