Owned and operated by Jeanine Barus McRary, Jeanine's Flowers and Things is not found in downtown Valdese. Choosing instead to operate in a secluded area off Laurel Road, Mrs. McRary brings a love of flowers to bloom in a successful business.

After completing a medical office assisting degree at Western Piedmont Community College, Jeanine took a private floral design course in 1980 and began helping family and friends with their designs. She also did some part-time work for Floral Expressions in Morganton. The experience provided a stepping stone to her opening her own shop. After Floral Expressions closed, Jeanine began her business in the basement of her home.

Jeanine's Flowers and Things specializes in weddings and offers a full line of rental equipment, silk trees, lights, garlands, and center-pieces. Each wedding is unique and tailored to the needs and tastes of the bride and groom.

Her business philosophy is based on service to the customer and the best quality plants, flowers, and gift lines that are available.

Jeanine's Flowers and Things is a member of the Valdese Merchants Association and the Southern Floral Association. McRary is involved with the Catawba Valley Area Girl Scout Council as a leader in many capacities.
