COVER STORY

12/01 - The Valdese Christmas Parade marched through town at 10:00 a.m. today to kick of the 2007 Christmas holiday season. A cool but not cold morning encouraged a good crowd to turn out to cheer on the bands, floats, dancers, and other marchers as they made the thirty-to-forty minute trek along Main Street.

This year, with the addition of Patton, there were three high school bands performing. Next year, when Draughn opens, there may well be four bands, creating a near-steady stream of high school musicians marching along the street.

The grand marshal for the 2007 parade was bluegrass legend, George Shuffler.
