THE VALDESE CO-OPERATIVE STORE

IMPORTANT
INFORMATION

The Valdese Co-operative Store Company (founded 1917)In early Valdese, long before Sam Walton ever dreamed of the mass merchandise empire he would one day create, Valdese didn't have the large grocery stores, hardware stores, and other stores that stretched for blocks and carried every product conceivable. Instead, the citizens of Valdese relied on the Valdese Co-operative Store Company to have the items used in their daily lives.

The staple goods sold in this store were an eclectic collection of items that could fill most any need.

In honor of this long-gone establishment, we bring you the cyberspace version of the Valdese Co-operative Store.

This page includes Waldensian and Valdese-related items you can purchase through individuals or organizations in Valdese and a few selected books from Amazon.com.

I am not personally selling any of the items listed here and receive no commissions. Links are provided for you to contact the actual sellers to order or receive more information. As pictures become available, they will be added to the listings.

Happy shopping!

It also asks what were the common threads in certain characteristics of religious practice, linking in differing degrees all the forms that the movement took.

  • $59.95
  • Published September 1999
  • Rora The Poor of Lyons, whom their detractors called 'Waldenses' first emerged around 1170 and formed a sect which embraced evangelism, prophesy, and poverty. By challenging prohibition by following the Scripture to the last letter, they were condemned as heretics. The Waldenses constituted the only medieval heresy to have survived to the dawn of the 'modern' period. Their tale of simple devotion, mixed with a fierce tenacity serves to illuminate aspects of religious belief that have persisted to the present day.
